Oscar Race!

With the Academy's new rules allowing 10 Best Picture nominees, this is one of the most exciting awards seasons in recent years. There have been an oddly small number of anticipated films as in years past, but there have been a huge number of "under the radar" movies slowly getting buzz like last year's Slumdog Millionaire, which wasn't even heard of this time last year. So, here are my 10 Best Picture nominees, at this point, based solely on the movies I've seen and the buzz certain other ones have gotten.

(500) DAYS OF SUMMER
AN EDUCATION
BRIGHT STAR
THE HURT LOCKER
THE LOVELY BONES
NINE
PRECIOUS
A SERIOUS MAN
UP IN THE AIR
WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE

Noticeably absent from my list is Up, which was a good movie but, if Wall-E didn't get nominated last year (which is should have alongside The Dark Knight) I doubt Up will get noticed, even with the playing field a little larger. What do you think?
