winners//70th GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS

Last night's ceremony was one of the most entertaining award shows in recent memory. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler brought just the right amount of comedy and edginess to their opening monologue; a fresh alternative to the past few year's Ricky Gervais-led shows. Their jabs at people like James Cameron left the room rolling. They also showed up randomly during the telecast, keeping things light. The only thing that would have been better is if they were given more time. One of the best moments came after they each lost to Girls' Lena Dunham. Acting boozed up, they had the camera cut to Glenn Close, who gave a GIF-ready ode to being drunk. Another great GIF moment came when Tommy Lee Jones looked unamused during Kristen   and Will Ferrel's lead up to the Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical, another great moment from the show. Easily the most talked about moment came when Jodie Foster received the Cecil B. DeMille award for her lifetime of achievement. Her acceptance speech was riddled with code phrases and shrugs of mentioning things, but not really. Did she come out? Did she say she's retiring? She discounted the latter during her press junket after she left the stage, but her speech left the audience in tears and the viewers wondering what exactly she was trying to say.
It was a great night of surprises and great moments. Seth MacFarlane has a lot to live up to.
