The National Society of Film Critics, a group made up of 56 critics across the United States, met and voted for their 48th annual awards. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the group recognized any film that opened in the US in 2013 as eligible for the awards.

BEST ACTRESS: Cate Blanchett, 'Blue Jasmine'
Runner-Up: Adele Exarchopoulos, 'Blue Is the Warmest Color'

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: James Franco, 'Spring Breakers'
Runner-Up: Jared Leto, 'Dallas Buyers Club'

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Jennifer Lawrence, 'American Hustle'
Runner-Up: Lupita Nyong'o, '12 Years a Slave'

BEST SCREENPLAY: Before Midnight
Runner-Up: 'Inside Llewyn Davis'

BEST DOCUMENTARY: (tie) The Act of Killing and At Berkeley
Runner-Up: 'Leviathan'

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: Inside Llewyn Davis
