winners//2014 BAFTA AWARDS

The last major pre-cursor to the upcoming Academy Awards is the British version of the Oscar, the British Academy Film Awards, or BAFTA for short.

Gravity was a beast, winning 6 awards, the most of any other film. But, what looked like a shut out for 12 Years a Slave, proved to be a waiting game as the Steve McQueen film about slavery took home the top prize.

Despite 12 Years Best Film win, it's still anybody's game at this point when it comes to Oscar Sunday. Chiwetel Ejiofer won Best Actor in a category that left out current frontrunner Matthew McConaughey. Jennifer Lawrence has all-but secured her second Oscar, after beating out favorite Luptia Nyong'o for Best Supporting Actress. Cate Blanchett as Best Actress and Alfonso Cuaron as Best Director seem to be the only true safe guesses at this point after the pair added another trophy to their wins this year.
