winners//22nd SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARDS

AWARDS COVERAGE

Without a Best Picture category, the Screen Actors Guild Awards equivalent is the Best Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture award that pit awards favorites like Spotlight and The Big Short against underdogs Beasts of No Nation and Straight Outta Compton.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Brie Larson have all but cemented themselves as the Oscar favorites in the Best Actor and Best Actress categories. Idris Elba made history as the first motion picture acting winner (for Beasts of No Nation) to win a SAG Award without being nominated for an Academy Award in the same year for the same role. Elba also won the Leading Male Actor award for the Miniseries/TV Movie category for Luther.

On the television side, the cast of Downton Abbey served as upset winner against outgoing favorite Mad Men (the show's star Jon Hamm was also left empty-handed in the lead acting category).

Carol Burnett received the Life Achievement Award, given by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, highlighting an amazing comedic career.

The 22nd Screen Actors Guild Awards took place at the Shrine Exposition Center.
