AWARDS COVERAGE

Recent Palme d'Or winner I, Daniel Blake leads the nominees for the 19th British Independent Film Awards with 7 nominations, including Best British Independent Film.

Other films to earn an awards season boost include American Honey, which nabbed an acting mention for Shia LaBeouf, and Notes on Blindness.

Actress Naomie Harris will receive The Variety Award, recognizing a director, actor, writer, or producer who's made a global impact. She joins the likes of Kate Winslet, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Sir Michael Caine, among others, to receive the award.

The Richard Harris Award's recipient will be announced later this month.
