AWARDS COVERAGE

Grammy winner Meghan Trainor announced the nominees for the 59th Grammy Awards this morning, with Beyonce, Drake, Rihanna, and Adele earning multiple mentions.

After the powerhouse release of Beyonce's Lemonade earlier this year, all signs point to Queen Bey finally taking home the coveted Album of the Year prize.

As for surprises, most prognosticators had Bon Iver and David Bowie in the mix for Album of the Year. Neither made the cut. Sturgill Simpson, however, jumped into the mix, alongside Justin Bieber (earning his first nom in the Album of the Year category).

Also surprisingly left out of the major awards, Kanye West failed to muster any major awards attention.

Overall, the 59th Grammy Awards will lean more pop-heavy, possibly the heaviest in recent years, which should make for a big night of television when the ceremony airs live on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
