AWARDS COVERAGE

The 53rd Cinema Audio Society Awards honored the best in sound mixing in film and television. Sound mixing is the art of combining recorded sounds together, whether that be sound effects (foley), music, dialogue, or all of the above.

Continuing its meteoric rise to the top of the awards season ranks, Damien Chazelle's La La Land won the top prize for film, beating out Arrival, Hacksaw Ridge, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.

Disney's Finding Dory picked up the prize for animated films.

The ceremony was held at the Bunker Hill Ballroom at the OMNI Los Angeles Hotel.

La La Land is up for the same prize at the upcoming 89th Academy Awards.
