winners//69th WRITERS GUILD OF AMERICA AWARDS

AWARDS COVERAGE

Taking place in both Los Angeles and New York, the 69th Writers Guild of America Awards gave kudos to Moonlight and Arrival.

With both films winning, any sure bets on Oscar Sunday are still not ironed out. Barry Jenkins' Moonlight script, based on the story by Tarell McCraney, won Original Screenplay from the WGA, but will compete as an Adapted Screenplay at the Academy Awards.

Eric Heisserer's Arrival screenplay, based on the story "Story of Your Life" by Ted Chiang, will be up against Moonlight at the Oscars.

That leaves Original Screenplay up in the air, with La La Land and Manchester by the Sea as the supposed frontrunners.
