AWARDS COVERAGE

The 69th Primetime Emmy Awards recognized achievement in television over the past year, with shows like The Handmaid's Tale and Atlanta changing the course of recent multi-year winners and allowing for a new crop of television favorites.

It wasn't all brand new, though. The one constant was the dominance of HBO's Veep, which picked up the Best Comedy Series prize, as well as Best Actress, Comedy, for Julia Louis-Dreyfus, her sixth consecutive win in the category.

As for big winners, HBO's Big Little Lies shut out Feud: Bette and Joan, earning trophies for Best Limited Series and a handful of acting awards, including a Best Actress win for Nicole Kidman.

And, history was made in several categories. Donald Glover became the first African-American to win the Directing award for comedy series for Atlanta. Lena Waithe became the first African-American woman to ever be nominated for and win the Writing award for comedy for Master of None.
