AWARDS COVERAGE

The nominees for the 49th NAACP Image Awards have been announced, with Get Out, Girls Trip, and Netflix's Mudbound among the honorees.

The awards annually celebrate film, television, music, and literature. This year's list of nominees includes multiple mentions for several entertainers, including Mary J. Blige, who's up for awards for acting and music. Her five nominees are matched by Jay-Z, who also earned five mentions.

The Awards' highest accolade is the Entertainer of the Year award. This year's nominees include director Ava DuVernay, actor Chadwick Boseman, writer/actress Issa Rae, and music artists Bruno Mars, Chance the Rapper, and Jay-Z.

On the film side, Get Out earned the most mentions, including Best Film. Detroit, Grils Trip, Marshall, and Roman J. Israel, Esq. rounded out the category.

The 49th NAACP Image Awards will air live on TV One on January 15, 2018, with Anthony Anderson set to host.
