nominees//68th ACE EDDIE AWARDS

AWARDS COVERAGE

One of the sure-fire ways of predicting the Oscars is looking at how each guild celebrates the year in cinema. Too many misses at guild awards cold mean not as much support for a film. Despite critical praise, many films have powered through the first half of awards season only to halt once the biggest accolades begin to roll out.

The 68th ACE Eddie Awards are an awards ceremony by the American Cinema Editors and celebrate the best in film editing. At the Oscars, the film editing award is notable for being one clue as to which five films have the best chance. It's hard for a film to win Best Picture without at least being nominated for editing. With the Eddie Awards, films like Get Out and Lady Bird solidify their awards season chances. Films like Call Me By Your Name, however, are beginning to wain. The critically praised drama by Luca Guadagnino already missed out on several expected nominations at the SAG Awards. Its miss here is another substantial awards season blow.

The 68th ACE Eddie Awards will be awarded at a ceremony on January 26, 2018.
