News // 'ENDGAME' BECOMES SECOND-HIGHEST GROSSING FILM EVER

Endgame has now bypassed Titanic on the list of highest-grossers.

While it was expected to cross the $2 billion mark in its second week, the fact that Avengers: Endgame (#1) achieved that impressive record in just twelve days is unbelievable. The Marvel/Disney juggernaut has now eclipsed Titanic to become the second-highest grossing film worldwide of all time. It's only competition now for the number one spot is James Cameron's Avatar.

Endgame earned an additional $145.8 million in its second weekend. That number is just lower than Star Wars: The Force Awakens' second weekend cume of $149.2 million. Domestically, Endgame has earned $620 million, making it the ninth largest domestic release of all time.

Sony's The Intruder (#2) entered the box office in second place with $11 million during its opening weekend. It was the highest opening of the new crop of films. Last weekend, Endgame was the only new title.

Coming in third, Long Shot (#3) earned $10 million, below expectations. The comedy, starring Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen earned mixed reviews and a B CinemaScore.

And, despite major buzzworthy marketing opportunities, like Kelly Clarkson's Billboard Awards performance, STX's UglyDolls (#4) earned just $8.5 million.

In limited release, Briarcliff's El Chicano (#11) brought in $700,432 from 605 theatres; Well Go's Shadow (#31) earned $30,100 on four screens; and IFC's Non-Fiction (#32) picked up $29,056 at just two theatres.

Leaving the top ten are horror films Us (#13) and Pet Sematary (#12) and nature documentary Penguins (#15).

Next weekend, Detective Pikachu will be Endgame's toughest competition, sofar, as it opens at over 4,100 theatres. UAR will release The Hustle, STX will release Poms, and Fox Searchlight will release Tolkein.
