The evil doll gets a facelift for the new horror flick, opening in 2019.
Produced by Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg, most known for 2017's It, the upcoming remake of the classic 80's horror film, Child's Play, is currently in production in Vancouver.
Aubrey Plaza stars in the new version as the mom who gifts her son a toy doll for his birthday. The doll isn't quite cute and cuddly, as the family will soon find out. The boy will be played by Gabriel Bateman. Brian Tyree Smith also stars.
The new project is a joint effort between MG and Orion Pictures, with Lars Klevberg at the helm. The new design for the Chucky doll (see below) is all part of the updated plans of bringing the terrifying tale to the big screen. Per Entertainment Weekly, Klevberg plans on using both practical and visual effects in bringing Chucky to life.
For fans of the original film and the series of sequels that have spawned since, including 2017's Cult of Chucky, this new remake is intended to be a retelling of the first, original story.
MGM and Orion have yet to announce who will be voicing the evil doll.
