Sicario: Day of the Soldado premiered in third place.
Doing what Incredibles 2 couldn't, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom remained at the top spot in the weekend Top Ten, earning an additional $60 million for a total gross of $265 million since its release. Internationally, the film has almost topped $1 billion, which it should reach in the next week or so.
Incredibles 2, in its third week of release, has almost topped $500 million. It is now the second highest-grossing Pixar movie of all time and the third highest grossing animated film of all time.
Sicario: Day of the Soldado led the new releases, bringing in $19 million. The sequel to 2015's critically acclaimed Sicario earned mixed reviews and B CinemaScore. Uncle Drew, a basketball comedy, came in fourth with $15.5 million.
Ocean's 8 closed out the Top Five, dropping only 30% from last weekend for a weekend total of $8 million. Globally, the heist comedy has earned over $200 million.
Fox International's Sanju surprised with a Top Ten debut. And, documentary Won't You Be My Neighbor continued the Summer of Documentaries as it finished in the Top Ten with a $2.29 million. RBJ earned heavy numbers earlier this month.
Highly publicized documentary Three Identical Strangers led the limited release titles for the weekend, debuting to $163,00 from five theaters.
Next weekend should see a similar buzz in the already-stellar 2018 box office totals. The First Purge opens Wednesday, to celebrate America's Fourth of July holiday. Ant-Man and the Wasp opens Friday, hoping to be the next big superhero movie of the summer.
