The Andrew Lloyd Webber hit Broadway musical will also star James Corden.
Variety and other trade papers have reported Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, Grammy winner Taylor Swift, late night host James Corden, and Hollywood legend Ian McKellan are set to star in the film adaptation of Broadway hit Cats.
The musical, from Broadway legend Andrew Lloyd Webber, has never received the film treatment before, despite being one of the most commercially successful musicals of all time.
This film version will be directed by Tom Hooper, the director behind Best Picture winner The King's Speech and another notable stage-to-=screen adaptation, Les Miserables, which netted Anne Hathaway an Oscar.
Lee Hall will write the screenplay, based on the musical, which is based on the book of children's poems by T.S. Eliot.
Hudson, who won an Oscar for her film debut in Dreamgirls, will play Grizabella, the former 'glamour cat' who falls on hard times. She's the cat who sings the musical's most famous tune, "Memory." Roles for Swift, Corden, and McKellan have yet to be named.
The film is expected to premiere in 2019, though with Swift currently on tour, filming could be halted until alter this year or early next year.
