Nominations // 30th Producers Guild of America Awards, Documentary

The nominees for film and television will be announced at a later date.

Seven films have been nominated by the Producers Guild of America for its annual awards. The PGA Awards are typically seen as one of the strongest predictors of the Academy Awards’ honors.

The nominations for the television and motion picture categories will be announced at a later date.

This year’s documentary nominees include the three documentary box office hits that have been mentioned by several other voting boards so far this season:Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, RBG, and Three Identical Strangers.

Won’t You Be My Neighbor? premiered last summer, earning $22.6 million along the way. It’s the 12th-highest grossing documentary of all time.

With similar themes, Free Solo and The Dawn Wall both center on attempts to scale El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. Both are also among the nominees for the PGA prize.

The most surprising omission from the list is Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 11/9. The politically-focused docu-director’s latest effort failed to make a dent in the box office, as well.

The full list of nominated producers for each film is still being vetted.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Fiege was previously announced as this year’s recipient of the PGA’s David O. Selznick Achievement Award.
