Nominees // 21st SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARDS

Despite the press that the critics awards and other precursors receive, the Screen Actors Guild Awards is the first ceremony that gives a glimpse as to what Oscar may hold in the near future. The acting branch of the Academy is the largest voting branch, so the nominees for their own prestigious award should mimic, in a way, who is mentioned at Hollywood's biggest night.

There were quite a few surprises and snubs in the mix of this year's nominees. Jennifer Aniston slid in to the Best Actress race with a nomination for her drama Cake. Likewise, Naomi Watts garnered a mention for Best Supporting Actress in St. Vincent. While it's not necessarily a huge surprise, Jake Gyllenhaal received a Best Actor nod for Nightcrawler. The biggest snub of the morning seemed to be for the film Selma, which has collected quite an amount of praise from critics. The ensemble drama about Martin Luther King, Jr. may have suffered the same fate as last year's The Wolf of Wall Street, which didn't send screeners out early enough for SAG consideration.

All in all, it was a big morning for Birdman. The 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards will be given out at a live ceremony Sunday, January 25 on TNT and TBS. Here's a look at all categories, including television:
