Winners // 28th GOTHAM INDEPENDENT FILM AWARDS

Eighth Grade and First Reformed are among the evening's winners.

The 28th Gotham Independent Film Awards were handed out Monday, November 26, 2018, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York.

Leading the nominations were Yorgos Lanthimos' The Favourite and Paul Schrader's First Reformed. Both films ended up winners by the end of the night.

Most of the winners were expected, though a few surprises showcased exactly how unpredictable this awards season could be.

Chloe Zhao's The Rider was named the year's Best Feature, its only nomination of the evening. Won't You Be My Neighbor? won the Audience Award, despite not winning the Best Documentary award. Toni Collette won Best Actress, though Glenn Close is still expected to be the Oscar winner to beat.

Outside of competitive categories, tributes were given to performers Rachel Weisz ad Willem Dafoe, director Paul Greengrass, and producer Jon Kamen. Sandra lee was given the "Made in NY" Award.
