The American Cinema Editors celebrated the cinema of 2016 with a ceremony at the Beverly Hilton last night, solidifying the awards season race for a few films.
Building off of the momentum from Tuesday's Academy Awards nomination announcement, where it picked up a record tying 14 nominations, La La Land's Tom Cross picked up the award for Best Edited Feature Film (Comedy).
Arrival's Joe Walker received the award for Dramatic Feature, beating out Moonlight.
Based on previous years, the winner of the Dramatic Feature has traditionally mirrored at the Oscars, especially when the winner of the ACE Eddie Award is also nominated for Best Picture. One example where this didn't happen is the year Chicago won the Oscar. This could bode well for La La Land, as it sets its sights on a potentially record-breaking or tying Oscar finish.
